Midnight's Kiss

Midnight's Kiss

R2 200,00Price

A 100% pure silk mofuku kimono, a formal kimono traditionally worn for mourning, handmade in the early Showa era between 1926 and 1989.

This particular piece has no jacquard, no decorative design or patterning at all, except for the family crests, giving it a striking and solemn beauty.

It features the Mitsuuroko family crest, a motif often seen on samurai armour, Shinto temples, taiku drums, and roof tiles.

A black silk whisper traced with five crests once worn in silence by women who held power behind the scenes. A piece inspired by royal heritage, restraint, and strength.

It is not just a garment, it is wearable art. A piece that tells a story with every fold of fabric, made for those who appreciate detail, depth, and drama.

  • Condition

Excellent vintage condition — minimal or no signs of age. The garment is beautifully preserved, showing the quality and detail of its original craftsmanship.

  • Sizing

Kimonos are traditionally designed to be loose and unstructured, which makes them naturally one size fits most. They suit a wide range of body shapes and styles, regardless of gender. The main difference between each piece is the length, so be sure to check the listed length to find the fit and look you prefer.

  • Care Instructions

Cleaning: Avoid washing your kimono. If you must, dry clean only by a specialist familiar with Japanese textiles. Avoid machine or hand washing.

Stains: Gently blot stains with a soft cloth; avoid rubbing. Seek professional help for stubborn stains.

Storage: Store flat in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight and moisture. Use a breathable garment bag.

Hanging: Use a wide, padded hanger if hanging to avoid stretching.

Airing: Air occasionally in a shaded area to prevent odors.
